Must be your skin I'm sinking in
must be for real cuz now I can feel
and I didn't mind
it's not my kind
not my time to wonder why
everything's gone white
and everything's gray
now you're here now you're away
I don't want this
remember that
I'll never forget where you're at
don't let the days go by
glycerine
I'm never alone
I'm alone all the time
are you at one
or do you lie
we live in a wheel
where everyone steals
but when we rise it's like strawberry fields
if I treated you bad
you bruise my face
couldn't love you more
you got a beautiful taste
don't let the days go by
could have been easier on you
I couldn't change though I wanted to
could have been easier by three
our old friend fear and you and me
glycerine [repeat]
don't let the days go by
glycerine
I needed you more
when we wanted us less
I could not kiss just regress
it might just be
clear simple and plain
that's just fine
that's just one of my names
don't let the days go by
could've been easier on you
glycerine

This is one of my all time favorite songs--it gets me every time. However, the lyrics continue to puzzle me. My overall generalization would be that he is speaking of a break-up. I think he is saying that he was full of regrets and that he didn't treat his girlfriend very well--although she was a beautiful person. I believe he is also saying that we live in an often ugly world..."we live in a wheel where everyone steals, but when we rise, it's like strawberry fields." By this, I think he thinks that ugliness is inevitable, but happiness/peace is possible if we give it all we got...in the same sense, maybe his girlfriend stopped trying, stopped putting up with all his BS...and this really upset him, as expressed by, "I needed you more when we wanted us less. I could not kiss just regress." There comes a time when the end is just the end, no more drama, no more pain, no more tears. I don't understand the significance behind the repeated glycerine. Anyone have any insight? It would be greatly appreciated! =)

This is a total shot in the dark, but I am wondering if "glycerine" has to do with adding something to said relationship or a lack of something that should have been there?
"glycerine–noun
