Woman-up! I doubt she was writing about Ryan Reynolds, but if she was I can see why would want to stick around and fix him up! ;-)

I think the song could also be about an emotionally damaging relationship, not necessarily physical. The girl being pushed into the dirt might reference her destroyed self-esteem. However, it doesn't necessarily have to even be about a relationship. It might even refer to a young woman lost in the world who doesn't know what path to choose, where to go, and the narrator is offering assistance in rising up.
Title: One of the best songs ever By: Snoflak80

Lyrically, this song is phenomenal. To further understand this song, I did a bit of researching into what it is really about. I discovered that it dealt with Roger Water's feelings of disillusionment, alienation, and probably grief from the loss, but not death, of band member, Syd Barrett. Cool, cool. However, for me, it is more a quest for understanding or a need for companionship. The best lyrics of the song are: "How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls Swimming in a fish bowl, Year after year, Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here." YES!

So often people find themselves in situations where they must move on from the people they love. The reasons are sometimes not clear. They say there is a reason for everything; I'm not so sure. But, I can relate to this. The hardest thing to do is to walk away from someone you love, someone that you want to be with.

I think it is about moving on. I would guess it is a woman ready to pack her bags and leave, but, in actuality, she doesn't yet know where to go or how to start as it has been so long. She really has spent a great chunk of her life doing something wrong, but she realizes a long time is better than forever, no matter how difficult.

"I try to slow it down for you I think that we should take a drive I want to give you something I have wanted to give to you for years, My heart...my heart" Sometimes it is the hardest and most valuable gift to give, the heart. This song is fantastic. Imogen Heap + Blue October= Great melody and lyrics. Starting out so sweetly, but it truly is somewhat sad.
Title: Best Alanis Song.. By: Snoflak80
On: Tue., Oct. 24, 2006, 05:55 AM (Rating: Average)
Do you ever find yourself blind-sided? Totally enamored, head over heels, smitten, love at first sight, in love? Yes? Okay... Alanis had a woman up moment, and she really let 'em have it on this one. The lyrics "Don't be surprised if I love you for all that you are/I couldn't help it/It's all your fault" really hit me, because sometimes I truly think that certain people have an air that makes the falling easier. But, it really is their fault the falling happens. Not even close! We try so hard to be impervious to those charms, and we fail. Some of us, everytime! Word on the charmers, Alanis. Word...

Everything in life has some aspects of compromise. Sometimes it is better to leave things unsaid. The people who know you, I mean REALLY know you, know you. You have to say nothing. Sometimes actions speak louder than words. And, it is those moments where things are left unsaid that really stick with you.

I have listened to this song over and over and over.... It took me awhile to decide what it really meant. For me, this song is about someone being so afraid of the life they have been leading, afraid of loving someone, and afraid of telling the truth. Shaun Morgan's raspy vocals combined with the emotional lyrics tug on my heart strings! Good Stuff....
